Driving Climate Action and Green Skills at Franklin’s 7th Annual STEM Conference and Progression Evening
We were proud to host our 7th Annual STEM Conference and Progression Evening, bringing together students from across the region to explore the incredible world of careers in STEM. The event was proudly supported by the Our Future Starts Here Programme, funded by the National Lottery Community Fund, and this year placed a strong focus on climate action and green industries.
The much-anticipated day was a huge success, bringing together with students taking part in more than 30 interactive workshops covering Renewable Energy, Computing, Engineering, Food Science, Medicine, Cosmetic Science, Games Development, Mathematical Modelling, and much more.
Workshops were delivered by our dedicated Franklin STEM team, alongside valued partners including Sheffield Hallam University, Lincoln University, University Centre Grimsby, UCNL, CATCH, BAE, RWE, Ørsted, ORE Catapult, and other industry experts.
We welcomed 19 local schools, including, John Spendluffe Technology College, Waltham Tollbar Academy, John Whitgift Academy, Cleethorpes Academy, Oasis Academy Wintringham, Oasis Academy Immingham, St James School, Humberston Academy, Havelock Academy, Louth Academy, Ormiston Maritime Academy, Beacon Academy, Engineering UTC, Healing Academy, Outwood Academy Brumby, Caistor Yarborough, Winterton Community Academy, South Axholme Academy, Somercotes Academy, alongside our own Franklin STEM students.
Following the conference, students and parents were invited to our Annual Careers & Progression Evening, featuring over 90 employers, apprenticeship providers and universities, offering expert advice and guidance on post-16 and post-18 pathways.
Highlights included informative talks on student finance, the benefits of Russell Group universities, careers in law, and apprenticeships, alongside our popular Health Village in the Theatre; a dedicated hub featuring healthcare providers and employers showcasing careers in the health sector.
